San Diego’s COVID Rise To Possible Restrictive Purple Tier Again

There has been a sharp increase in COVID in San Diego, despite around 70% of the US population being vaccinated with all the emerging Gamma and Delta variants running rampant. It’s speculated that COVID might get worse with all the variants coming out, causing concern for the general public.

There’s been around an 84% increase of COVID cases in the local population causing concern for many local officials and governments to consider enforcing the face mask mandate again.

In fact, the cases are rising so fast that if we have still used the restriction tiers in California, we would be in the purple tier, the most restrictive tier in San Diego. This is a serious issue as most people are still walking without face masks and much of the population is still not fully vaccinated, putting everyone at risk for COVID.

On July 16, officials reported around 501 cases with covid cases after being confirmed and 467 cases on July 17 with possible delta variants.

There’s a lot of concern as the Delta variant started in India and has reached America. Many Americans are still not vaccinated and the contagious virus is still infecting rapidly.

And it’s not just San Diego. Spikes are currently happening elsewhere, causing concern and making other local governments reinstitute the face mask mandate.

This is causing concerns for many local businesses as many of them won’t be able to handle another indoor restriction, forcing many of them to close shops. Many local businesses are concerned as they won’t be able to provide the services people may need, forcing them to shut down.

As of Monday, July 19th, there have been at least 287,694 San Diego citizens who have been infected with the coronavirus, with the number beginning to rise since the start of COVID in February 2020. And out of all of those people, 1.3% of them (or 3,786) were fatal to the American public.

That’s why we urge you to make sure that you are keeping yourself and your family safe by practicing social distancing as well as safe COVID prevention. We also highly recommend getting tested once a week, especially if you have been working around COVID.  This will keep you up to date and aware of your current situation and allows you to make plans if you or someone else you know has caught it.

The best protection is to practice COVID safety precautions such as wearing masks, getting fully vaccinated, and getting tested weekly if you’re currently working at the office or meeting frequently with other people. You can learn more about testing weekly at CovX Labs below.
